Introduction #

We’ve introduced changes to how coupons work in our system. This guide will help you understand the modifications and how to effectively use coupons and discounts for your events.

Combined Coupon Codes #

Previously, discounts and codes could not be combined. The system defaulted to the larger discount when multiple codes were applied. Now, you have control over how your discounts and codes interact.

How It Works #

1. Allow Combination Option: When creating a code, you’ll see an option to allow the combination of coupon codes. This allows codes to be used together.
2. Participants Discounts: No change in functionality. Participant discounts linked to email addresses apply automatically at checkout.
3. Creating Codes and Discounts: You will see the combined setting in two places:
   • Single Event Coupons: For a specific event.
   • Group Event Coupons: Linked to a group ID, applicable across all linked events.

Single Event Discounts and Coupons #

Participant Discounts #

• Functionality remains the same.
• Create a participant discount linked to an email address for automatic application at checkout.
• Expire when the event ends, and a new discount is required for event renewal.
• Only one participant discount per email address.

Single Event Coupons #

• Option to allow code combination.
• If allowed, the code can be used with other codes and participant discounts.
• If not allowed, it cannot be combined, and the system defaults to the larger discount.
• Expiry similar to single event participant discounts.

Group Coupons and Participant Discounts #

Participant Discounts for the Group #

• Applicable across all linked events in a group.
• Allows extending expiration dates.
• Multiple discounts for a single email address are combined.

Coupon Codes for Groups #

• Combination setting available.
• Can be combined with other coupons and discounts if the setting is enabled.
• Can have an extended expiration date.

Interplay Between Group and Single Event Coupons and Discounts #

1. Participant Discounts
   • Single event discounts used first.
   • Remaining balance covered by the group discount.
   • Amount deducted from the group discount balance.
2. No Single Event Participant Discount Available
   • If the runner does not have a single event discount, the system uses the group participant discount, saving any remaining balance for future use.
3. Coupons
   • Single event and group coupons can be combined if the setting is enabled.
   • Group coupons can be combined with single event participant discounts if the combination setting is enabled, and vice versa.

Additional Notes #

• By default, coupons are set to not combine with other discounts.
• Coupons and discounts still do not apply to add-ons.
• You can change the combination setting on the coupon at any time.
