Configuring the Timing App for Multiple Checkpoints
If you need to record checkpoints or split times at locations other than the finish line, here’s how you can set up the app:
-
Navigate to Timing & Results:
- Go to the Timing & Results tab on UltraSignup and click on Get Your Code. This is the third link down.
-
Choose Your Device:
- Select the device operating system you will be using, such as Apple or Android.
-
Setup for Multiple Locations:
- When prompted with the question, "Are you planning to record participants in more than one location?", select Yes if you are recording times at different locations (e.g., aid stations or checkpoints).
- If runners are passing through multiple times at the finish line in a looped event, you can select No if the recording will only happen at the finish line.
-
Enter Checkpoint Information:
- Add your checkpoint names (e.g., “Summit Aid Station” or “Trailhead”) and assign the corresponding mileage for each location.
-
Configure for Multiple Distances:
- For each distance in the event (e.g., 50k, 100k), input the mileage for each checkpoint. For example, Aid 1 for the 50k might be at 10.1 miles, and Aid 2 might be at 17.5 miles.
-
Get Codes for Each Location:
- Once your checkpoints are configured, you will generate a unique code for each checkpoint. Each checkpoint device will need its own code to record the times for runners at that specific location.
-
Use a Separate Device for Each Checkpoint:
- Each checkpoint (aid station) requires its own device with the appropriate code entered. This ensures the data from each checkpoint is recorded independently.
-
Ensure Regular Data Backup:
- Make sure to back up data at each checkpoint regularly, especially when using multiple devices.
