Here’s how to configure and time a looped event:
- Navigate to Timing & Results:
- Log in to UltraSignup.com and head to the Timing & Results tab.
- Select Get Your Code (usually the third link down).
- Choose Your Device:
- Select the device you'll be using (e.g., iOS or Android).
- Review the on-screen guide if needed, then proceed to get your code.
- Configure the Course:
- When prompted, answer the setup questions for your looped event.
- For example, if you're timing a 48-hour event with a 5.2-mile loop, you’ll input the distance for each lap in miles.
- You’ll then generate a code specific to your event.
- When prompted, answer the setup questions for your looped event.
- Entering the Code in the App:
- Open the Timing App and enter the code generated during the setup.
- This code pulls all relevant participant data and event settings into the app.
- Timing the Loops:
- Each time a runner completes a loop, tap on their bib number (in Bib Tap View) or manually enter it in Keypad View. This records their time for that loop.
- The app will automatically track and store each lap time as the runner crosses the finish line multiple times.
- The total time and the number of loops completed will be updated for each runner.
- At the End of the Event:
- When the time limit (e.g., 6 hours, 12 hours, or 48 hours) is reached, the event ends. The total number of laps and the time taken will be displayed for each participant.
Important Notes:
- If your event has multiple loop distances (e.g., 5-mile, 3-mile loops), you’ll need to set that up manually or use creative timing methods, as the app currently only supports events with equal loop lengths.
- Only one device should be used to record lap times at each checkpoint. Don’t use multiple devices to time laps at the same checkpoint, as they don’t sync with each other.
That’s it! You’re all set to time your looped event using the UltraSignup Timing App.
