Refund Guarantee is an optional add-on offered during registration that lets you cancel your race entry for any reason and receive 80% of your registration cost back, as long as you cancel before the deadline.
It’s powered by Spot and designed to give runners flexibility when life, injuries, work, or plans change.

What does Refund Guarantee cover?
You can cancel your registration for any reason and receive 80% back on:
Registration cost
Applicable taxes
Platform fees
Coverage applies up until your cancellation deadline (usually 24 hours before race day).

When can I request a refund?
Typically, you can cancel any time after registering up until 24 hours before the event start date.
How do I request a refund?
Refund requests are submitted directly through Spot, the Refund Guarantee provider.

You don’t need to contact the Race Director or UltraSignup to process the refund.
How will I know if I’m covered?
Your confirmation email and receipt will clearly show “Refund Guarantee” if you purchased coverage.
How much does Refund Guarantee cost?
Refund Guarantee coverage costs 14% of the Registration Cost. Refund Guarantee is non-refundable, even in the event that you do not use it.
Can I add Refund Guarantee after I’ve already registered?
No. Refund Guarantee must be purchased at the time of registration and can’t be added later.
Is there a maximum registration amount covered?
Yes. Refund Guarantee is not available for registrations over $5,000.
Does Refund Guarantee work for virtual events?
No. Virtual events are not eligible for Refund Guarantee coverage.
Does Refund Guarantee cover event cancellation?
No. This is not event insurance - rather, it protects your individual ability to participate. See your Refund Guarantee confirmation email for complete terms and conditions.
What happens if I receive a refund directly from the Race Director?
If you receive a refund directly from the Race Director or event organizer, your Refund Guarantee coverage is void and Spot will not issue an additional refund.
What happens if my registration is cancelled in UltraSignup?
If you, the race organizer, or UltraSignup removes your registration, your Refund Guarantee coverage is void and Spot will not issue an additional refund. Withdrawls must be processed through SPOT to recieve your refund.
What if the event date changes?
If an event date is updated, your Refund Guarantee coverage automatically adjusts to the new date.
The only exception is if you already requested a refund through Spot before the date change.
What if I transfer my registration to another runner?
Refund Guarantee coverage is not transferable.
If you transfer your registration, the coverage will be voided.
How does Refund Guarantee work with lotteries?
You can choose to add Refund Guarantee when entering a lottery.
If you’re selected and your payment is processed, your coverage begins automatically.
What if I change race distances?
Downgrades: Coverage remains active, but you won’t receive a refund for the price difference.
Upgrades: Coverage remains active and continues through your cancellation deadline.
Is Refund Guarantee required?
No. Refund Guarantee is optional - race organizers decide whether or not to make the option available for purchase on their event, and if available, you decide whether the added flexibility is right for you.
