UltraSignup partners with Adyen — a globally trusted payment platform used by Microsoft, Uber, and eBay — to securely process registration payments and pay them out to you. Before we can activate Adyen for your events, you'll need to complete a short, hosted onboarding flow on Adyen's site.
The whole process takes about 10 minutes for most race directors. Once you're verified, you're ready to receive payouts as registrations come in.
🔒 A note on security: All sensitive information — your name, ID, and banking details — is collected directly by Adyen on their secure platform. UltraSignup never sees or stores those details. We will never ask for your password, banking login, or other credentials over email or chat.
Before you start
Have these handy so you can knock the process out in one sitting:
- Your legal name (or the legal name of your business)
- Your Social Security Number (Individual) or EIN (Company)
- Your business address
- Your bank account login or routing and account numbers
Step 1: Find Tax & Payments in Event Setup
From any of your events, open the Event Setup menu in the left sidebar and click Tax & Payments.
Note: If your event has multiple contacts, the person tied to the existing bank account is the only one who will see the option to onboard to Adyen. If you go to Tax & Payments, you will see that individual's name.
Step 2: Start Adyen onboarding
On the Tax & Payments page, click the green Proceed to Adyen Onboarding button to launch the hosted onboarding flow.
Step 3: Choose your business setup
Adyen's first question is: "What best describes your business setup?" Most race directors will pick either Individual or Company. Here's how to decide:
- Individual — You're not a registered business. You receive race payments under your personal name and you'll use a personal bank account. Pick this if your race is run informally under your own name.
- Sole proprietorship — You're a registered sole proprietor (DBA or sole-prop business license on file) and you use a bank account in your name or your sole prop's name.
- Company — Your race operates as a separate legal entity — for example, a single-member LLC, corporation (Corp.), or incorporation (Inc.). If your race name ends in "LLC," "Inc.," or "Corp.," choose Company.
- Partnership or association — Use this if your race is run under an LLP, LLLP, general partnership (GP), or a registered association (some nonprofits and running clubs fall here).
💡 Quick rule of thumb: If you've ever filed taxes for your race separately from your personal return, you're probably a Company or Partnership. If your race income flows through your personal tax return, you're an Individual.
Step 4: Fill in your details
You'll land on a Set up your account page with three sections to complete:
- Personal details — Legal name, date of birth, address, and tax ID.
- Payout bank accounts — Where Adyen sends your payouts (covered in the next step).
- Sign services agreement — Adyen's standard terms for processing your payments.
If you chose Company or Partnership, you'll also be asked for the company name, registered business address, and ownership information.
Step 5: Verify your bank account
When you reach the bank account section, Adyen offers two verification methods:
- Log in with your bank (recommended) — The fastest path. Adyen securely connects to your bank, confirms the account, and you're done in seconds. We strongly recommend this option for nearly everyone.
- Verify manually — Enter your routing and account numbers yourself. Adyen may then request additional documentation (a voided check or bank letter), which can add days to verification.
Whichever method you pick, your bank account must be in the same name as the account holder (Individual) or business (Company). Adyen will reject mismatches, so double-check before submitting.
What happens next
Once you finish the flow, Adyen runs verification automatically. Most accounts are approved within minutes; some may take up to a couple of business days if Adyen needs to review additional documents.
We'll soon start activating Adyen for events that have successfully onboarded, and we'll let you know when this begins.
