The UltraSignup Timing App offers two different ways to record finish times: Keypad View and Bib Tap View.
Both views have their advantages, depending on the event size and finish line activity. Keypad View is ideal for quickly typing in numbers during busy periods, while Bib Tap View provides a visual way to confirm and record individual times.
Let’s go over the pros and cons of each, so you can choose the one that works best for your event.
Keypad View
- The Keypad View allows you to manually type in a participant's bib number and click Add to record their finish time.
- This view is particularly useful when you have a large group of runners finishing at once, as typing in the numbers can be quicker than searching visually.
- If you make a mistake while typing in the bib number, simply click Clear to start over.
Bib Tap View
- To access Bib Tap View, click on the Menu icon in the top right corner and select Bib Tap.
- In Bib Tap View, all bib numbers are displayed on the screen. You can simply tap the bib number to record a finish time.
- This view can be more intuitive, especially for smaller events or when you want to visually confirm each bib number before recording. However, it can be challenging to use if you have a large number of participants, as the screen can become crowded.
Recommendation:
- If you’re expecting a lot of runners to come in at the same time, Keypad View might be more efficient, as it allows you to enter bib numbers quickly without searching.
- For smaller groups or individual finishes, Bib Tap View provides a more visual approach that’s easy to manage.
