If you’re managing a timed event where runners will be completing multiple loops, such as a 24-hour or 48-hour race, it’s important to properly configure the UltraSignup Timing App for looped events.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
- Start by navigating to Timing & Results on UltraSignup.com and clicking on Get Your Code, which is the third link down.
- You'll need to choose the device you’ll be using for timing (either iOS or Android). Make sure you've downloaded the latest version of the app for your device.
- Then, proceed to configure the event settings. You'll be asked, "Are you planning to record participants in more than one location?" For looped events where runners are only passing through the finish line repeatedly, select No, we just want to record at the finish line.
- Next, enter the course lap length in miles or kilometers—this will be the distance of each loop that participants will complete. For example, if it's a 5.2-mile loop, input that value here.
- Once you've entered this information, click Generate Code. This code will allow you to load the correct settings into the app for your looped event.
Timing During the Event:
- Every time a runner completes a loop and crosses the finish line, simply tap their bib number in the app to record their time. The app will automatically track the total number of laps and times for each participant.
- Continue recording until the event reaches the designated time limit—whether it's 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours.
Important Note:
- Do not use multiple devices to record the same looped event, as they do not sync with each other. This can lead to discrepancies in recorded data.
- If you encounter any unexpected changes, such as needing to adjust participant bibs after entering your code, be sure to reset the app and re-enter the code.
Properly configuring looped events ensures that each runner’s laps are recorded accurately, and the UltraSignup Timing App makes it simple to manage multiple loops. Just remember to generate your code and follow the correct setup to avoid any timing issues during the race.
