Introduction #
This guide provides instructions on how to format results files for uploading to the UltraSignup platform. Proper formatting ensures smooth processing and accurate display of event results.

Event Not Hosted on UltraSignup? #
When uploading results from an event that didn’t host registration on UltraSignup, the event must meet the following requirements; otherwise, the results will be rejected:
- Provide the complete list of results. Partial submissions will be denied.
- Include a link to the official results.
- Ensure all names, genders, and ages are provided. Submissions with all ‘0’s in the age column will be denied.
- Ensure there are more than 10 finishers.
- The race must be either a trail race or an ultra.
Formatting Requirements #
- File Format: Results files must be in either Excel (.xlsx) or CSV (.csv) format. CSV files are preferred for optimal compatibility.
- Column Headers: The spreadsheet must contain column headers. Ensure that each column has a descriptive header indicating the data it contains.
- Required Headers: The headers must include the following names, spelled exactly as specified:
- Solo Events:
- place
- time (if fixed distance event)
- distance (if a fixed time event)
- distance_time (if you would like to load times for your fixed time event)
- first
- last
- age
- gender
- Relay Events:
- place
- time (or distance if a timed event)
- team
- Optional Columns: Additional columns such as city, state, date of birth (dob), bib number, and status (1=Finished; 2=DNF; 3=DNS; 4=Unofficial Finish; 5=Disqualified; 6=Less than 10 Finishers) are accepted.
Your Upload Will Fail If… #
- Blank Rows: Ensure there are no blank rows in the spreadsheet. Remove any empty rows before uploading the file.
- Column Headers: If your file contains columns not specified above, it may fail to upload correctly. Stick to the required column headers for seamless processing.
- Missing Gender: If there are empty cells in the gender column, the file will fail.
- Missing Ages: If there are empty cells in the age column, the file will fail.

Note: If you do not have the finish times for your fixed time event, and you have several runners who finished with the same distance, please see this guide.
Uploading Process #
- Once your file is properly formatted, navigate to your event page on UltraSignup.
- From the admin tools, select “Timing & Results” -> “Results Loader.”
- Follow the prompts to upload your formatted results file.
Formats That Will Not Work #

Issues: #
- Column header ‘Name’: Must be split into two columns with the column headers ‘First’ & ‘Last’
- Column header ‘hometown’: Must be split into two columns with the column headers ‘City’ & ‘State’
- Missing Gender: Cannot be left empty.
- Missing Age: Cannot be left empty.
- Column header ‘Total’: Must be changed to either ‘Time’ or ‘Distance’
- DNF: The only values that belong in the time or distance columns are times and distances. DNF belongs in the Status column in the form of ‘2‘
